The Castle was constructed by the Benedictine monks
of Pannonhalma back in 1260; however, King Béla IV
fell in love with it and snatched the estate. Today this
is the only castle around the lake that is open to the
public – no wonder that it serves as a center for events in the summer. On June 26th, feed your aural appetite with classical lute music in the Arts and Crafts Courtyard (‘Kézműves udvar’), and take part in the knights tournament every Saturday. Get to know the everyday life of the castle and cheer for your favorite knight at the tournament! On July 4th, Géza Gárdonyi’s classic adventure novel, Eclipse of the Crescent Moon, will come to life, followed by a nostalgic weekend kicking off on July 17th. Shake your limbs at the ABBA Feeling and Dolly Roll gigs and experience how your ancient folks partied 30 to 40 years ago. Between August 6th and 9th, the Szigliget Summer Days offers hiking, sports competitions and a playhouse for the kids, followed by operetta, musical, pop as well as spicy ragtime music fi lling the air in Szigliget. On August 21st and 22nd, battle against boredom at the Heritage Festival – try out century-old weapons or binge on local dishes and vino. At the end of the festival, just sit around the fire with the weary knights and say bye-bye to the summer in Szigliget. | A szigligeti várat a pannonhalmi bencések építették

vehetsz részt. Megismerkedhetsz a vár mindennapjaival, sőt, igazi lovagi tornát is láthatsz. Július 4-én megelevenedik Gárdonyi Géza klasszikus kalandregénye, az Egri Csillagok, július 17-én pedig kezdetét veszi az igazi nosztalgia hétvége. Augusztus 6-a és 9-e között, a Szigligeti Nyári Napokon nappal túrázással, sportversenyekkel és játszóházzal várnak, aztán operettel, musicallel, könnyűzenei koncertekkel és tüzes regtime-mal pezsdítik fel a szigligeti éjszakát. Augusztus 21-22-én, a Hagyományőrzők fesztiválján „véres” csatákat vívhatsz, kipróbálhatod a történelmi fegyvereket, és persze jókat ehetsz és ihatsz. A fesztivál végén ülj le a fáradt vitézekkel együtt a tábortűzhöz, és mondj búcsút a szigligeti nyárnak! |
