Description

Kocsonya is a Hungarian dish you’re probably not familiar with – it’s pork parts boiled down to a clear broth and left to cool into a jelly, or aspic form. This being Balaton, here they make a fish version, and this being Hungary, there’s a cooking contest for this delectable dish, which miraculously transforms the not-so-beautiful bits of meat or fish into something more than just palatable. Luckily for some of us, there’s even a veggie version. After the jury is served, be your own judge and buy a “tasting plate” for just 300 HUF! And the name of this special celebration, complete with folk music and dance to go with? The Kocsonya Beauty Contest.

Kocsonya ist eine ungarische Speise, die Sie wahrscheinlich nicht kennen, - Teile des Schweins werde zu einer klaren Brühe gekocht und dann gekühlt zu einer geleeartigen, sulzigen Form! Hier am Balaton wird das mit Fisch gemacht und da wir in Ungarn sind, gibt es dazu natürlich einen Kochwettbewerb, wo, wie durch ein Wunder, die nicht so ansehnlichen Fleisch- und Fischteile zu etwas sehr Schmackhaften verzaubert werden. Es gibt auch ein vegetarische Version. Nachdem die Jury bedient wurde, können Sie selber urteilen, wenn Sie um nur 300 HUF einen Testteller kaufen. Und wie heißt denn diese spezielle Feier, die von Volksmusik und -Tanz begleitet wird? „Kocsonya Schönheitswettbewerb“.
