This Tuesday (December 15th) saw a full-house auction and screening of the film Love Happens starring Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston, in Corvin Cinema, at a charity screening organized by MediaSales, Budapest Film and Corner Film. After months of fundraising, Szilárd Béres (chairman of MediaGo Holding) gave the raised donation to János Bencze, the secretary of Bethesda Children Foundation.

Bencze said that they’d ultimately like raise 25 million forints for a new digital X-ray machine for the hospital. As he mentioned, they received much help from both private and corporate sources – the most helpful being the MVM (Hungarian Electrical Company) and the Council of Zugló. In the past few years, he recognized a new trend in the charity behavior of companies; namely that the firms have started to be more faithful to and reliable towards the supported foundations, aiding them regularly.

The auction itself included a number of particularly interesting items, including an original football kit signed by Brazil’s ‘94 football team, from Nike. There were also valuable drinks from Zwack on offer, including heaps of pálinka and Maximilian noble spirit. Enough to keep the crowd going until the New Year!

The event closed in great spirits, and all involved are looking forward to the first charity events of 2010!
